It’s absolutely heartbreaking to see how far a little bit of money can go in a struggling community.
That’s why this year I’m going to forgo traditional Christmas gifts and make a life-changing donation to World Vision in honor of my loved ones.
For $100, you can buy a family a goat and two chickens, enough to nourish hungry children and families with healthy milk, cheese, and yogurt. Chicks and goats require little money, space, or food to thrive and grow, which makes them an ideal business venture for a single mom or vulnerable family. Big spenders can make an even bigger community investment by donating a team of oxen and a plow or a pond of firm, white fish.
If animals aren’t your thing, World Vision also offers packages of life-saving medication, clean water and deep well donations, and, a cause very close to my heart, scholarships and job training for women and girls.
This Christmas instead of buying your loved one another dusty knickknack consider making a donation in their honor to one of these excellent causes.
